Playing Rock Band with your eyes closed might prove to in fact be easier than playing Guitar Hero 3 with your eyes open. If delaying the game for a month in Canada wasn’t bad enough, new news from Games Radar shows that Rock Band is in fact extremely easy. Disappointing to say the least…

Using Guitar Hero 2 as a base for difficulty, they looked at comparing the Hard and Expert modes of Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band.

First, Guitar Hero 3 on Hard Difficulty is about the same level as Guitar Hero 2 on Expert. I can confirm this. I began GH3 on Hard and found it to be quite similar to GH2 on Expert, where I previously left off. There were some difficult songs later on, but all in all I played through it alright. Expert is challenging on a new level. I haven’t come across anything overly difficult yet, but I do notice it to be considerably harder than GH2 was on Expert.

So with that part of their comparison being quite spot on, their comparison of Rock Band scares me. They say that Rock Band on Expert is about the same difficulty as Guitar Hero 2 on Hard. On hard?? There is nothing hard about GH2 “Hard” in any way. How can this be the most difficult setting in Rock Band? Not only that, but I’m going to be a super rockin’ cool guitar jammer by the time Rock Band comes out - since I’ll be about finished GH3 on Expert.

All I can say is that from a standpoint of someone who is pretty good at these games, it is a huge letdown to hear that I may in fact find no challenge whatsoever from the game I’m very much looking forward to. Am I just going to have to start toning up my singing voice?
