GamesRadar has again put together a noteworthy story in collecting ten videos of the greatest gamers of all time. See them in their pinnacle of awesomeness! Enjoy the greatest Street Fighter comeback of all time, 5-minute-mario, and the true Tetris master. I think it is fairly obvious that some of these people are originally from a parallel universe as found in Quantum Leap. They are not from a Twilight Zone parallel universe, but in fact the Quantum Leap one. This is a fact - so don’t even try to argue that they are from the Twilight Zone.
Either way… prepare to be blown away and check out the true pinnacle of gaming.
Despite popular belief, the best way to gather a large mass of gold coins is not to pick herbs, mine ore, or farm motes. In fact the best way to gather your gold coins is to purchase them from raving lunatics on Ebay. Two days ago, an individual listed an auction for a Gold coin, a real one as a matter of fact. This individual chose not to sell their product with a clever sales pitch differentiating their gold coin from the others on the market. But rather this individual chose to sell their product through the use of the most out of control rant. A rant that could easily be considered the rant of the century.
Having nothing to do with Video Games - or really anything else on this blog, it still may very well be the best piece of writing material found on this entire website - and I can’t even take credit for it!
I will however take credit for the fact that I was really good at hitting control + c, and then control + v. I was also really good at right clicking the images, saving them, and then uploading them to my own server. Finally, I was most definitely excellent in saving a new html file that will forever remain intact - immortalizing this rant in the history and confederation paperwork that belongs to our great Peppercorn Nation.
Please put down the pitchforks and torches if you are a Rock Band fan and hear me out. This post is not a gushing blabber to praise the gods for blessing us with Guitar Hero 3. In fact, it’s not even about Guitar Hero 3 at all… it is actually about Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks The 80s on the Playstation 2.
For those that are unaware. When Guitar Hero is put together, sometimes they cannot get access to the rights of original songs. When this is the case, they turn to a recording studio to make a sound-alike cover of the song they want to include. Apparently, according to the Romantics, the cover of their song “What I Like About You” is in fact too good.
Yes in this day and time, if you record a cover of a hit song, you better make damn sure it only sounds OK. If it sounds like the original, you may be in danger of being sued. After being sued for making a good song, you better not look at anyone while you are leaving the courthouse, they may consider that to be harassment then *bam*, back in the courthouse. And while in the courthouse for the second time signing your paperwork, I certainly hope you do not have a fountain pen issue that might stain the pants of a passerby. This would likely cost you somewhere in the area of $70 million dollars to replace the pants - as proven by this Judge who sued his dry cleaners for $65 million for his lost pants. More info on that story here.
So after losing $70 million for the pants accident, we’re back to the Romantics suing Activision for how good their song sounds in Guitar Hero. Absolutely ridiculous? Perhaps. Utterly retarded? Most definitely…
Our good friends at Blizzard have graced us with another World of Warcraft commercial perhaps coming soon to a television near you. Fans of the great movie Office Space might remember this old gem, and we’ve even seen WoW more recently in this Tundra commercial.
Now, it’s time to celebrate the release of a new WoW class - the Mohawk. Not much is known about this new class, but that it seems that it may be restricted to the Night Elf race. More info will be posted as soon as I hear it.
For now, check out this launch video for the Night Elf Mohawk.
And for those of us who play Shamans - but who also have had a burning curiosity as to what class Kirk would play if he wasted much time in the infamous World of Warcraft, see this video instead…
I can finally satisfy my urge to watch a human woman go at it with a blue skinned alien. If you haven’t heard, Mass Effect showed up on the 360 yesterday, bringing along with it some rather intimate scenes. There seems to be much hype around this game (and not just for the kink scenes) but truthfully I never really knew why. I know it is from BioWare, which is good. I know they’ve done well in the past. But seeing videos and reading about the game did not seem to spark my interest.
After playing for about 2 hours last night, I really started to wish I had bought this game instead of rented it. Of course that will likely change after playing for about 6 hours - but since I haven’t reached that mark yet I can still say it! Mass Effect is supposed to be about as non-linear as you can get. Your choices in game have an effect on how the story plays out. Of course I’ve heard of this before in Fable, among other games, so I wasn’t overly excited. I must say however that the choice system is kind of fun. I chose a cold and calculated asshole - female asshole of course (how can I deny the developers the opportunity to display the lesbian sex scene they so cautiously included). I pretty much tell everyone off every opportunity I get. Oddly enough, they seem to tolerate my PMS quite well.
Anyhow, I can’t write much of a review right now since I’ve barely scratched the surface. I can however say that the skill system seems intriguing to me. Like any other RPG I have a wide variety of skills to choose from (Assault Rifles, Infiltration, Sniper Rifles, Electronics, Intimidation, etc), as well as about 8 different classes. It will be interesting to play the game from a different classes perspective at a later time. We’ll see how much replay value the game has…
For now, I shall leave it at this. I am completely overwhelmed right now between Guitar Hero 3, Call of Duty 4, Assassin’s Creed, Mass Effect, all the meanwhile still trying to find time for Hellgate London and Halo 3.
A more detailed review will come when I have a better handle on the game…
