Quick one today… I heard about this and I thought I would share.
Bethesda Softworks, makers of the hugely popular Morrowind and Oblivion games is officially working on a tentatively titled Elder Scrolls Online, an MMORPG.
This could turn out to be huge. While the information is pretty much non-existent other than to confirm that yes, they are in fact working on it, it might bring a new level of interest in this series for many players.
Personally, I’ve always found the Elder Scrolls games to be kind of slow. I like the concept, and I like the “FPS-ness” of the game - but I just can’t seem to keep myself interested for more than a few solid nights. Bringing in more players, and hopefully some PVP content, could be exactly what I need to fulfill my desire to crush and obliterate anyone attempting to cross my path online!
UPDATE:
Well It seems my third overall post was a vast jump to inappropriate conclusions - kind of like anyone assuming this blog will hold my interest for more than a month! I’d like to defend my position by saying I did in fact research the story on a few websites that had confirmed that it was in the works. That being said, with the Internet spreading the good word, Bethesda’s Marketing and PR girl Erin Losi was forced to make a reply to this story.
She explained that firstly, an Elder Scrolls MMORPG was not in the works. She did mention that while they did in fact purchase the domain www.elderscrollsonline.com, but that this was a standard business practice for their organization.
I guess its time to reactivate our WoW accounts!

An Elder Scrolls MMO would be a bad idea. All of the appeal of the world of Tamriel is in the single-player experience of exploration and immersion… which would be hugely diminished should you be surrounded by LOLing players jumping non-stop asking what the best armor is like and telling Chuck Norris jokes.
I think the project is something else. Perhaps a Fallout MMO? Bethesda has the IP for it as I recall.
