Well, the Video Game Industry did it again. Just when you thought that they cared about us, you realize they weren’t handing you that fun new toy, they were just dangling it in front of you like a mechanical rabbit on a dog track.
Yes a few days ago it was rumoured that Rock Band was going to be delayed until December 19th. No big deal right? The Video Game Industry is known for not making deadlines or delaying games until they are “perfect”. So whats the problem? Well, Rock Band wasn’t universally delayed. In fact, it was only delayed in Canada. That’s right… Our friendly neighbours (or neighbOrs as they would have it!) in the south are still going to be rockin’ out as scheduled next Tuesday.
It always seemed growing up that Canada was notorious for getting games a few days late. It wasn’t until recently, maybe 5-6 years ago, that EB started promising games on their real dates. God himself even blessed us (which is better than the smiting he did to this boys PS3) with a midnight release of Burning Crusade almost a year ago now.
So just as things we’re looking up for us. Just as we decided to step out of our frozen igloos, and ride our dog sled to the market to buy wood carvings, fresh fish, lumber, and video games from EB, why are we now getting shafted again?
If there’s one good thing to take from this delay, it might be the people like me who now own a copy of Guitar Hero 3 to fulfill our sad and pathetic dreams of becoming a rock star. Of course I’ll still be getting a copy of Rock Band, but this is quite annoying.

And this isn’t the first time this has happened. About a month ago, BioWare (a Canadian company mind you, doing all of their developments out of Edmonton, Alberta), announced that we would not be received the Collector’s Edition of the highly anticipated Mass Effect for the 360. This game was produced here for God’s sake… and we are getting shafted on the Collector’s Edition?
Even back in September, EA Black Box was developing one of the best 360 games to be released in a while, Skate. Where is EA Black Box located you ask? Well its Vancouver, British Columbia. Why am I mentioning this you ask? Well for some reason this Canadian produced game was released a full week earlier in the US.

Today I suppose is another test. Tuesday the 13th, 2007, release date of the much anticipated Assassin’s Creed (review will be posted when I get a copy). Another Canadian produced game. With such a high profile release, I’m willing to bet that it is in EB as we speak. But with the way things are going, who really knows…
I should have my copy in a little bit. I have my hands full right now with Hellgate London, Guitar Hero 3, Call of Duty 4, and still managing to find some time for Halo 3.
