Are you wanting to become a citizen of Peppercorn Nation, but the true patriot in you needs to first know the history of the country before you can pledge allegiance*?

Peppercorn Nation was not formed under British Imperial Control, did not separate from the Soviet Union in the early 90s, and does not have a rich history of ancient cavemen using sharpened rocks as tools. Instead Peppercorn Nation proudly proclaims itself to be the first nation to be formed solely on the presence of unemployment. When founding fathers, or in the case father, of Peppercorn Nation was seeking employment at a notable Video Game publication, he was briskly informed that without a personal blog, application would not be considered. It did not seem to matter that the president of our nation had been forum administrator and webmaster of multiple video game websites, or that he had written a variety of in depth blog like posts. In fact the only thing that matter was the technicality that the format he was using a FORUM instead of a BLOG. Interesting…

After a grueling, very long, and extremely painstaking 1 minute and 51 seconds (with at least 90 of those seconds trying to find an old email with his web hosting password), Peppercorn Nation signed its confederation papers and became a true country. Amazingly, in this day an age, the only thing required to register a prestigious nation such as this one, is a 16 digit number with expiry date, and a national bank account with $3 (even less if you were previously Canadian!)

Here are some fun economic statistics for Peppercorn Nation:

Unemployment Rate: 100%
Population (1/11/07): 1
Main Industries: MMORPGs, Console Gaming (Xbox 360), Arcade Games, Movies, and Sports.

Peppercorn Nation is ran not by a President or a Prime-Minister, but by an Arbiter**. Despite this being a nation focussed around video games, there is no correlation between Arbiter, and the Halo series of games. Any mention of this will be met by swift flaming of the digital kind.

*Note: Peppercorn Nation is not in fact a real nation. If you were under the impression that it was, you may wish to investigate possible membership in the National Association for Retarded Citizens.

**Arbiter Definition:

1. a person empowered to decide matters at issue; judge; umpire.
2. a person who has the sole or absolute power of judging or determining.
